Football Friday Night

This Friday's game is between us( Peach Co. Trojans) and the Cairo syrupmakers. It's the semi-finals before the championship game next Saturday. I am sooooo pumped about it. I really hope we win because it would be really tight to get to go to the dome my senior year for the championship game. I got to go to the dome my sophomore year and it was an amazing experience! Especially since I got do dance out on that field and be on television for a few seconds. The game this week is gonna be tough. Cairo is a really good team and we're pretty good as well so it's gonna be a good game. I can't wait!

Thanksgiving Break

My thanksgiving break was GREAT! I went down to Waycross, GA, where the majority of my family lives. All of my siblings and I stayed with my granparents for the week. We pretty much just hung out and chilled all week. My grandparents have a lot of land down there so we rode around on the 4 wheeler and found things to do around the house. On Thanksgiving day I ate wayyyyyy too much food. My mom's side of the family met at my aunt's house for lunch and we all sat down and ate and then some of the guys played football and eventually most of us layed down and took naps. While we were all laying down some of my cousins and my little brother went out to ride what we call the redneck sleigh which is a peice of plastic material hooked to the back of the 4 wheeler and we ride around on it. Well, my brother was riding on the sleigh and one of my cousins was driving a little too fast. My cousin turned too sharp and my brother flew off the back of it and eneded up breaking his collar bone. So he spent most of the evening in the ER. After all of that craziness, my family went to my dad's parents house and we had Thanksgiving dinner there. Needless to say I ate a lot of food on Thanksgiving day. My family is great and I love them to death!

Fast Food

I love fast food restaurants such as  McDonald's, Wendy's, Burger King, Taco Bell, and Chick-fil-A! None of these are very healthy though. Chick-fil-A is the most healthy out of these because they use peanut oil when they fry their foods, but the others are really not healthy. We all love going because they are fast and cheap and pretty good to me. Some people don't like fast food places but I don't have a problem with them at all. I don't eat at them all the time because then I would gain a lottttttt of weight! But every now and then about once or twice a week i go and eat fast food. They are very high in fat and can make you get bad cholesterol. But that doesn't stop me from eating at them.

College vs. High School

I like college soooooo much better than high school! Even though college is much harder than my high school was, I like it a whole lot better. There is so much more freedom in college to do whatever you want. If you want to miss class then that's on you. In high school the teachers were all up your butt about everything but in college the professors are much more laid back from my experience so far. In high school there was so much drama, which I hate. But here in college you don't get all that close to people so there's nothing to argue about or get in drama with. Everyone in college is a lot more mature than the kids in high school. People here in college are here to get their degree and get out of here, not to play around and just be here for the fun of it. All in all, college is so much better than high school!

My Halloween Night

Last night was a BLAST! My friends and I decided at the last minute we wanted to dress up for Halloween and go trick or treating like we always do. So on Sunday night we planned to go early Saturday to get our supplies and make our costumes. We made crayon costumes and they were sooooo cute! We bought felt, party hats, velcro, and tights. First, we cut out the felt into different color dresses and velcroed the sides together. Then, we cut out the word crayola and black stripes in black felt and hot glued them to the front of the dresses. Finally, we covered the party hats in our color felt to act as the crayon tip, then we put our black tights on and the dress and it looked really cute from far away.  Up close you could definitely tell they were homemade costumes. Noone these days make homemade costumes anymore and ours turned out really good. We got a lot of compliments and comments on them because it was something different that people weren't used to seeing. We still like to be kids and do things whether people think we should or not. We always have a blast doing it and of course the candy is a plus too! When we were at one of the houses getting candy we heard a little girl say, "Mommy, I wanna be a crayon next year." It was so cute! We were like awwww. We felt like the little girl looked up to us in a way. We took tons of pictures and we definitely had a great time! Can't wait for next year :)

Welfare

People who are on welfare in the U.S. are pretty much getting everything for free. They get by very easily and don't have to pay for much if anything at all. I think that they should have to have jobs to be eligible for welfare. It's not fair for people to live off of the government and not even try to get things on their own. Really these people are living off of other people's taxes that they have to pay. So if you're not working and at least trying to have money and neccessities for yourself then you should not get to feed off of other people's money. That's just not right. Personally I would feel bad if I was getting everything through the government and not trying to do things on my own. I understand if you don't have a great job and you're struggling then you should consider welfare but don't try to get welfare when you're a lazy person who doesn't give a rat's butt what's going on.

The Things Life Teaches You

Experiences in life can teach you sooooo much. What happens in your life effects you in many ways. We all have good and bad experiences in our lives. Most of the time when we choos to do something,we aren't counting on it to teach us anything until afterwards when we realize it taught us a lot. This weekend I was taught a huge lesson for my life and I wasn't expecting it to happen at all.

Excitement!

There are so many things that I am looking forward to in the near future and in the future years from now. I'm really looking forward to thanksgiving right now. I get a week off from school and on Thanksgiving day I get to eat way too much! I love food so that is one of my favorite holidays. Following thanksgiving is Christmas which I love a lot as well. Yes, of course I love the presents, but celebrating Jesus's birth is also a big part of Christmas in my family. Then, I'm looking forward to the new year and my senior prom follows shortly after that. Getting all dressed up for prom is so much fun and exciting for me. Finally, I'm excited for GRADUATION from high school. Wooooohooooo!! I am so excited to be done with high school finally. These are all exciting things coming in the near future and I can't wait!

Automobile Dependence

Americans depend on their automobiles way too much. I'm included in that. Every single day we plan on our car being there to use to go to work, school, events, and activities throughout the day. It takes us to far away places in less time than any other transportation around here. Even if we are a block from where we are trying to go, we still use a car to get there instead of just walking. Americans are very lazy. We depend on a lot of things, not just cars. We always want things to just be given to us instead of working for what we want which isn't right. Someone always is going to have to work in some area for greedy peole who want things their way. Automobiles give us a lot of freedom of where we want and need to go but they also make us even lazier. We tend to do things the easy way instead of the hard way which makes sense but it probably isn't always the best thing for us to do.

Should father's be given the same chance as mothers to gain custody of their children?

Mother's and father's should be given an equal Chance on getting custody of their children. The circumstances of the separation of the mom and dad should play a big role in who gets the custody, but if neither the mom or dad have done anything wrong or harmful to one another than they should get an equal chance. Some people feel that mother's should have more of a chance to have custody of the children but the dad is just as much of a part of the children as the mom. The mom may have had the children, but the dad is still the father of those children. If one of the parents is abusive then the other should get the custody. For example, when a man beats his wife or children then the mom should automatically get custody of those children. That's not always the case though. So each parent should have an equal oppertunity to have custody of their children.

Shopping

I hate shopping with my grandma because she will stay in one store for two hours or more. I like shopping when I get to buy things but when I'm there while other people shop, I really don't like it. A lot of girls tend to love going shoping all the time, but I'm not one of them. I would rather do something more exciting and adventurous rather than going shopping. I'm an outdoors person and I enjoy being outside and finding things to get into. When I really want or need a certain thing from the store I will go and I don't mind that, but shopping isn't something I just love to do all the time. For prom and special occasions where you have to buy fancy dresses and such, I like doing that a lot because it's for me. That may sound kind of selfish but that's just the way I am. I have a pretty good since of style with my clothes, so I like going shopping to help my brother or sister find something cute to wear. On the other hand, going shopping for groceries and that kind of stuff doesn't really bother me at all. You usually know just about what all you want when you go grocery shopping so it doesn't take you forever to get what you need. Going clothes shopping, you don't know exactly what you're going to find and sometimes you don't know exactly what you want so it takes a lot longer and thats when I don't like shopping.

Arranged Marriages

Arranged marriages are wrong in my opinion. If your parents set you up with a person to spend the rest of your life with, you probably wouldn't be very happy. The person you marry should be the one that your very much in love with, and a person that makes you happier than anyone else ever has. They should be your "true love". I believe that once your married you need to stay with that person the rest of your life and you can't do that if your parents choose for you. Some people may think their parents know what would be best for them but really no one knows exactly what you want, except for you. Your parents may think that they know exactly what you would want in a spouce but really they probably don't. Relationships should be made out of something that you and another person feel for each other, not just because others think you would be good together. If your marriage is arranged chances are it's going to end in a divorce and your going to end up being very unhappy. If that happens then you would probably end up finding someone on your own. Before marrying someone you should make sure they are everything you've ever wanted in a spouce and someone you will never get tired of. So in my opinion, arranged marriages are not the best, but finding your true love is what you should do.

Public Smoking

Smoking in public areas should be illegal. Everyone doesn't smoke so everyone should not have to deal with smelling the smoke or having to see people smoke. Second hand smoke is very dangerous. If you're around someone who smokes all the time you're very likely to endure second hand smoking. This can cause you to have lung cancer and many other serious problems. It's your choice whether you choose to smoke or not but smoking should be done in private on your own time and not in any public area. Also, when a person who has recently stopped smoking sees or smells someone else smoking it could bring that urge back to them to want to start smoking again. Smoking is very disgusting and harmful to your body. It causes so many problems like bad breath, yellow teeth, and lung and throat cancers. Why would you want to do something to your body to cause you to have cancer? It doesn't make any sense. Smoking is a personal choice and no one should have to be around it if they don't want to be. So smoking needs to be done in private places and not out in the public.

The future.

I look eagerly towards the future. It's so exciting to me to think about what is going to happen in my future, like who I'm going to marry and what job I will have. I just think, in 10 years I will have a career, a husband, and a family. That is crazy! You never know what will truly happen in the future but it gives me such joy thinking about what could possibly happen. There could be some rough times ahead but I know there will be some great times ahead. Even the future being as far as this weekend, I know this weekend is going to be fannnnnntastic! I'm going to a Luke Bryan concert and he is my all time favorite. Little things that happen in the future are what is most exciting and not knowing exactly what will happen makes it that much more intriguing! :)

If I could be an animal...

If I could be an animal I would choose to be a bird. Birds get to fly up so high and see all of the world below them. It would be an amazing experience to be able to do that for even just a day. They live up in trees and get to see so many different sites all in one day. There wouldn't be any traffic to get caught up into and nothing to worry about. We are free here in the United States but being a bird we would really be free to do anything and everything we wanted to. No one could stop it. The only thing is, I would not want to be a dove during dove season because I'd end up getting shot. That is the only draw back to being a bird. Overall, seeing things from a bird's eye view would be so very interesting.

Physical Punishment

In my opinion physical punishment is good for children in the form of a spanking. When a child physically feels pain from doingsomething wrong it makes them realize they shouldn't do that thing again or else they will have to suffer the consequences once again. This way gets it through their head that what they did is wrong and if they do it again then they will have to get another spanking and won't like that. On the other hand, parents should not go over board with physical punishment. They should spank hard enough to where the child feels the pain but not hard enough to leave a bruise or any other mark on them. It's not child abuse when you punish your child for wrong doings but it is child abuse when a parent chooses to hit or spank their child over nothing at all. That's how I feel about physical punishment for children.

Why I wouldn't want to live in a large city

I've never lived in a large city and I never plan on doing so. I'm a small town girl from Byron and I plan on staying in a small town. Cities have too many people for me. They are so crowded and crazy. In great cities like New York City random people just come up to you wanting you to buy things and pish and shove you everywhere. It's be so easy to get lost and confused about where you are. The crime rate also is very very very high in cities, for rape and robery. I wouldn't want to be alone walking somewhere one night and get snatched off the street and no one would even notice. That would be ridiculous and scary! A small town is good for me. One where you know a lot of people around you and you always know whats going on in the town. I do want to move away from Byron but I still want to go to a place where I fit in, and where there is a lot of land I can own and do whatever I want on. Big cities definitely aren't for me.

If I found out I only had a few more days to live...

If I recently found out I had only a few more days to live I would change a lot of things in my life. Like the song Tim McGraw sings, "Live like you were dying", I would tell everyone how much I truly loved them and how much they meant to me. I would travel to different places that I've always wanted to go to and do things that I never would have taken the risk to do before. I would go skydiving, to Italy and Australia, and I would visit all my family and friends that meant the most to me. I'd be nice to everyone I came in contact with and I would never have a dull moment. It would be nice to always live this way but when you think you've still got a long life in front of you, you let things bother you and you have a lot of stress. We should all just live like we were dying for a week and it would change our perspective on a lot of different things. There wouldn't be so much drama and heartache that went on. We would all have better times and we would wouldn't worry about anything because we would know we would soon be gone from this place and on to our eternity.

It's FREEZING

Georgia weather is completely ridiculous. It's only the beginning of September and it's kind of chilly outside already. Today is Tuesday and on Saturday it was really hot outside still. The weather here just changes in an instant no matter what seaason it is supposed to be. One day its 90 degrees and the next day it's 50 degrees, completely different.
In this classroom I freeze my butt off every single day. You'd think I would have learned by now to bring a jacket but I still never remember because I'm used to it being summer and it's starting to turn into fall. Most likely by next week it is going to feel like the middle of July again. Hot as blazes! You just can never tell here in Georgia.
Sometimes at Thanksgiving it's cold and then at Christmas its warm outside. That's just one example of our messed up climate in the lovely state of Georgia haha.

Everyday

Everyday there is something new going on in our world. Whether it's a hurricane about to hit land or missionaries doing work in different countries. There's so much going on all the time that we dont know anything about at all. There are so many brilliant people in this world along with those that are pretty stupid as well. I mean really, why would you just want to kill thousands of people along with yourself? Like September 11th. I mean that makes no sense whatsoever. The 10th anniversary for 9/11 is coming up soon and it's still so tragic just thinking about it. But on the bright side there are people completely opposite of that who are coming up with new inventions and technololgy everyday making our world a lot lazier but helping make things a lot easier as well. It's crazy what happens in our world each and everyday.

Parents

Parents just don't understand. They think what they are doing is always for our best interest but in reality its really not at all. They tell us not to do this or that or they won't let us do whatever it is that we ask to do becasue they think they know what's right and what's wrong for us. When they say "no" to what we want to do what's really happenening is they are making us have to sneak out or lie to them about what we are doing when in all truthfullness it would be better if they actually knew the truth about what we were doing in case something were to happen and they needed us or if they needed to get in touch with us. Its really pointless for them to tell us no becasuse one day we would eventually find a way to whatever it is that we wanted to do in the first place. It would make things so much easier on us and them if they would just let us do what we wanted whether it was good for us or bad. Because either way it would happen. And they cant completely lock us down in the house and keep us from doing anything at all. So all you parents, lighten up a little and let your teenagers have more freedom if they dont already.

So much to do, so little time.

This week I have been soooooo busy! Our first game is this Friday and we have been working like CRAZY. Everyday after school we have been bustin our butts out on the field getting our dances cleaned up and making sure everything looks really good. I'm really excited about tomorrow night!!! Its finally here. Then everyday after practice I have met with two of my friends to make t-shirts to wear friday before the game. They are super cute! And the real thing keeping me so busy is being in high school and college doing work for both places is a lot. I'm enjoying it though.

Virginia Earthquake Takes Away Cell Services

Some cell netwroks stopped working!! The thing is: the cell networks weren’t really damaged by the shaking. The shaking didn’t bring down any towers or wires. But because the quake was felt so widely, from North Carolina to New England, it prompted millions of people to make cellphone calls at the same time. This stopped cell service for about half an hour. Thats so crazy! The earthquake was a 5.8 and thats pretty big espeacially since states felt it all down the easter coast. I bet that was a scary feeling. It would've been cool to feel it though, I think. Idk though, it'd be interesting.

Last, First Game

High school football is finally stating this Friday night. I am soooo excited! This is my senior year and my favorite sport to watch is definitely football. I love all the excitement and joy that comes from it. I'm the captain of our dance team and we dance at half time with band. It's such an adrenaline rush to be out there performing in front of so many fans cheering for you. We are known around out town for our dance team and our kickline. Its so much fun and I'm sad this will be my last year on it because I'm graduating in May 2012. I've had a blast on it the past three years and I know this year will be no different. I've made so many great memories by being on this team and it has made me enjoy football all that much more. Two years ago out team was the state 3 AAA champions and I got to perform at the dome and was on tv!! It was so awesome to have that experience and share it with so many of my best friends. So it all starts Friday night, my last first high school football game, tear... :( But I know this will be a memory I will never forget!

My First Blog

I'm making a blog page for the first time in my English 1101 class at Macon State. This should be fun!
